Social media and it’s Addiction

Addiction is when you want to stop something but you realize it cannot be done that easily. Any form of addiction is bad be it drugs, alcohol or ideology. Addiction makes people do dangerous things and it needs to be dealt with before it causes any big damage. Social media addiction is the condition when your brain tells you that “it’s being too much and too often now, you need to stop using Facebook, Instagram or whatever it is all the time.” But you just can’t and spend all your time in social media even though you know you have plenty of works piled up and assignments to submit tomorrow. It is a form of guilty pleasure which makes people procrastinate, lazy, depressed, anxious and various other bad things.
Most of the people nowadays mostly teenagers are addicted to social media and procrastination. Most of the people nowadays spend most their time off work on phone scrolling rather than with friends or family. On doing so they leave their various task incomplete thinking they’ve got a lot of time to deal with it but at the end of the day, they’ll start procrastinating and never start the work. The procrastination problem isn’t just due to social media addiction but it plays a vital role in doing so because nowadays people choose to spend some more time scrolling rather than starting the work that must be done.
Laziness is at its peaks in current time. And why wouldn’t it when all you can do is spend all your time looking at others life seeing them achieve greatness and complain about your life when you have a well-functioning body which you’ve decided to waste by being on bed eating unhealthy snacks all day. People with social media addicting are so lazy that they cannot even see a movie as it is too long and they’re used to scrolling through tens of reels or post in a minute. Most humans are lazy and social media addiction has just triggered that habit of them.
Depression about youths have also been a all time high and social media addiction has been one of the main reasons behind it. Youths see some content that relates to them and the algorithm of these sites puts all the contents that relates to them on their feed which makes them start overthinking. All these things having to them continuously for a long time creates depression to develop. Depression is a serious issue and social media addiction which triggers them should be avoided.
Anxiety which is like depression but is a little different from it but is equally if not more painful is also likely triggered by social media addiction. Seeing other people your age and people you know see progress when all you’ve been through in your life is nothing praiseworthy. But what these sites won’t show you that these things aren’t all their life is about. They are only the highlights of their day and most of their days are not all that romantic and adventurous.
Social media addiction is nothing to be taken lightly as they make people totally lose their sense of time and leave their goals without fulfilling them. People should use social media carefully and for limited amount of time so that they don’t develop an addiction for it. If used carefully, it can help a lot in different ways like for starting a online store, being an influencer but it’s bad uses can harm a lot and cause many problems and increase troubles.
